Shake it out: A Dance Meditation Series

Movement as meditation has been long used across cultures to clear the mind and find a measure of peace and tranquility.
In her time as a dancer, Adhara has found that the postures, poses, repetitive movements and breathing techniques integral to belly dance have been a form of meditation and have been useful in relieving stress, overcoming pain and injury, and clearing the mind.
Join Adhara for a 2 hour Dance meditation. Each class in the series will begin with a 15 minute warm up and then explore a facet of belly dance technique and it’s meditative aspects with drills that will improve the experienced dancer or get the raw beginner started in a way that is calm, centered and focused on a balanced, relaxed state of mind.
Bring a towel (you will sweat!) and a note pad if you choose to record your findings.
For the second class (9-3-16) in the series we’ll focus on undulations and abdominal isolations. Working through the core and creating waves in the body. Steps in the Arabic Family of movement as well as body waves, belly rolls and pelvic locks. The low belly is the core of feminine energy and these movements are defining parts of Belly dance!”
